Dr. Austin Smith is a certified and licensed Therapeutic Optometrist in the state of Virginia. Dr. Smith is a lifelong resident of Hampton, graduating from Kecoughtan High School in 2011. He then obtained an Associate of Science degree from Thomas Nelson Community College before graduating from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences in 2015. He earned his Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2019.

Since graduating, Dr. Smith has been working within the Hampton community and achieved his lifelong dream of opening his own state-of-the-art Optometry Clinic in 2025. With a nod to the area he grew up in, Fox Hill Eye Care is located in the heart of the community that shaped him. Fox Hill Eye Care is a full-scope optometry clinic that provides comprehensive eye exams.
Dr. Smith specializes in complex contact lens cases, offering specialty lenses when needed. He also manages a range of ocular diseases, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes-related eye conditions, dry eye, and cataracts. In addition, Dr. Smith completed a rotation at the Feinbloom Center for Low Vision at The Eye Institute and is licensed to provide Myopia Management for patients needing to slow the progression of nearsightedness.
Dr. Smith is married to his high school sweetheart, and together they have one son and a dog. Weekends are spent tending to the yard, discovering new local eateries, and attending Northside Christian Church. When he’s not at home, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time outdoors, either on the water or in the woods.
